Seems to me Icelandair are just rtying to get as much cash from the brits as they can, I looked into this allready when Fanfest 2005 was mention and mailed Icelandair as I was thinking of staying for a week.
Standard price for 3 nights inclueding transfers and Airwaves entry = ú370 GBP. Extra night cost in any of the hotels in that package is ú45 GBP per night.
prices for normal Airwaves pass
Now this is flying from Glasgow or from London heathrow so me getting this package and staying for a week will cost me ú550 GBP where as if I buy the fanfest package it will cost me ú735 for 4 days and ú99 per day after. total is ú1033 GBP or I could take a week break in Austrailia cheaper.
The fanfest was good last year but paying ú483 GBP for the entry fee is abit mad (joke) I knows its not CCP. but this is the maths and I have the email I recived from Icelandair last month with pricing on it.
Someone in Icelandair has alot to answer for on this.
BTW I have only worked out the ones from the UK but it seems if you click the links on the fanfest info page on this CCP's listing you will find that the prices from other countries to it have also increased 70% or more as most of the other packages are for 2 nights or 3 night the ú735 package is a 4 night package.
But having said that it looks like Icelandair said hell we got 200+ of these morons over last year lets throw a package together whack up the price far above our own Airwaves packages and rake in the cash. Shame on them! and CCp you should take action this is a disgrace.

Yes I have seen Wrangler what I was pointing out is the Airwaves package is ú370 for 3 nights but the fanfest package is ú475 for 2 nights. Now its plain to see Icelandair are trying to take the eve fans for a ride with this pricing.

Something is still not adding up! Is the Fanfest pass going to be around ú150?
....
So its STILL cheaper to Easyjet to France and fly from there?
My money will be staying firmly in my pocket for this one. Sorry CCP but Iceland Air are still screwing us over.
Hicks, looks like you will have to have my beers for me mate!!! Enjoy!
I have to say monty I only checked all the stuff out last month because there was no info up about fanfest packages. I had intented to buy the fanfest package when it came out for the simple reason of us all meeting up in the bar again at the nordica anyway.
It was mearly so I could get a rough guess I figured the fanfest package at maybe about ú50 GBP above the Airwaves package so thought cool, but sadly I am wrong as Icelandair seem to be taking us all for a ride.
Considering I am Irish I still have to pay for flights to Glasgow or to London before ever paying for one of these packages I will not be attending either this year as I have to pay in sterling and get screwed on the exchange rate and have to buy the extra flights and crap.
Unless this is sorted ofc then I will be coming but not at the prices quoted I'm not a millionare.

Edited by: corporal hicks on 27/06/2005 14:17:39 Yes seems Icelandair are in the mindset to charge all of us in the UK and Ireland Double last years price so I guess its no fanfest this year for us.
I mean come on people or CCP or someone last years price ú360 for 3 nights with a single supplement meaning ú390 for 3 nights and ofc it inclueded the Blue Lagoon.
This year ú535 for a single room for 2 Nights and no Bluelagoon trip, adding the extra night on at ú99 and you get ú634 a overall price increase of 62% more this year than last year! not to mention the Blue Lagoon trip which was worth about ú35 again on top of that.
62% more exspensive this year than last year is insane or Iceland has some insane Inflation!

Edited by: corporal hicks on 27/06/2005 15:02:02 ok looked at making my own package and came up with this 18-24th flights london stanstead to Iceland return with Iceland express.
ú198 for the flights
Flying with Icelandair on same dates =ú172 from heathrow cheaper again...
6 nights in the SAS Radison Hotel..4 star in Iceland. at ú54 per night single room smoking ofc :)
ú327 for the Hotel inclueds breakfast ect.
So total would be ú525 for 6 nights, have to do transfers extra and fanfest and Airwaves pass but worth it more than Nordica.

Originally by: kieron CCP is just as unhappy with the FanFest pricing as the players are. We want the FanFest to be affordable without having to resort to alternative travel arrangements, like booking an Airwaves package and buying a FF ticket from the EVE store or booking a flight from London to Boston, Boston to Paris, then Paris to Reykjavik.
We are attempting to work out reduced pricing with Icelandair. Please show a little patience in the interim.
Kieron I am sure you guys are doing a great job mate, no offence was ment by me anyway, I know its Icelandair doing this not you guys and I think the whole community knows that. I was just trying to keep peeps posted on my findings. And to try post some better deals I came up with.
I will ofc be waiting for the final outcome, I have not decided to definitly not go as I had so much fun last year.

As I posted there the Radison SAS park hill i think it was had rooms at ú54 a night as opposed to the nordica at a whopping $172 per night..it would want to be 5 star for that and its not, the pool and all that crap btw is not inclueded in that price.

Originally by: Malarkey I may be jumping to conclusions here, but I suspect that the person at IcelandAir putting together the package still believes that the Fan Fest is taking place at the Nordica Hotel (as originally planned last year).
Kieron, if it is possible to re-negotiate the package at this stage may I suggest that the Nordica is NOT the best hotel in Reykjavik for us for a numbers of reasons; it is too expensive, it is too far out and it didnt have nearly enough lovely ladies (lots of smart young men, but not my thing). I dont know anyone that used their pool, their gym or sauna, etc. May I suggest, therefore, that you could re-negotiate for a hotel nearer the centre that might even be a little cheaper? I would certainly trade all those extras for a shorter trip to the bars, restaurants, night-clubs and Fan-Fest centre. That's where I want to be. I'm not fussy whether it is 2 star or 4 star.
Even if it is only for the Brits? And I really do want to see all those crazy nutters like Monty and Jason again. (I may also need my head examined).
What about me? you not want to see me again old man!!!! arhhh I will stay there also but I'm not a Brit...you'll never beat the Irish ole ole ole ole...

Just got a new Mail from Icelandair and you wont belive this one......
Quote: Thank you for your correspondence regarding the package for the Eve Fan Fest and Airwaves Festival. Regrettably for 2005 costs have risen in all areas. Matters such as exchange rate changes and increasing fuel prices are unfortunately completely beyond our control.
airfares have increased fuel surcharges have been added large fluctuations in exchange rates - our hotel contracts are in Icelandic kronar and have to be converted to sterling the Eve organisers have asked us to include the conference fee in the package price - unlike last year.
I realise that this information does not make the price look any more attractive for you. However I wish to make clear that this years prices are a true reflection of the costs involved. The standard Airwaves package does not include the same hotel but can of course be booked by anyone, although it does not include the Eve Fan Fest conference fee.
I am passing on your comments to my colleagues in this office and in Iceland who have been involved in making this arrangement for 2005. Thank you for taking the time to give us your comments. They have certainly been noted. I am sorry that you do not find our Fan Fest package satisfactory on this occasion.
Yours sincerely,
OMG thats there reason for charging us through the nose...ahh well, Dam them anyway is all I say. The friggin Nordica Hotel is the problem here I guess.

Originally by: Oi Poloi Maybe this is of interest for people flying form Europe: www.icelandexpress.com. Flights are available from Copenhagen, Frankfurt and London Stansted.
It will still set you back 200 GBP (~300 EUR) but it's including taxes (which the Iceland Air package does not include) and if you can find a cheap hotel or some other place to stay this surely is the best way.
Actually not sure if you have read my other posts yet apologiues if you have, the problem is not the Air Fair, its cheaper to fly with Icelandair to Iceland at that time than with Icelandexpress.
The problem from what I can make out is the Nordica hotel, if you check there website the prices for a standard room are a whopping ú172 GBP per night and thats for a not very nice 4 star, trust me we stayed there last year.
So really its the hotel cost is causing the problem.

Originally by: kieron Yes, tickets for the FanFest will be available in the EVE Store for those that make their own travel arrangements or live in Iceland. Ticket pricing has not been set, but I would expect it to be around the pricing of last year's Fanfest. There might be a slight increase, but what is planned for this year is well worth it.
Also, we are still looking at other travel alternatives. Nothing concrete yet, but news will be posted as soon as it is available.
Hahahaha I thought it said Concord for a sec and then thought it might be cheaper
Sorry had to.
